Impact

Between May 2015 and March 2017, OTL has conducted:

  • Over 100 individual faculty and team consultations on pedagogical topics and course design
  • 59 individual student consultations
  • 65 workshops and presentations on teaching and learning topics to college faculty and students and at regional, and national conferences
  • 15 classroom observations.

Workshops/presentation topics have included, among others:

  • Writing Learning Outcomes
  • Teaching 101
  • Using Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to Enhance Clinical Instruction

  • Assessing Clinical Competencies
  • Tips for Writing Exam Questions
  • Providing Effective Feedback

In addition, instructional designers presented to faculty on TopHat student response systems, using Canvas effectively in the classroom, active learning strategies, and other topics.

OTL has also been instrumental in the creation of a formal Instructional Design and Educational Technology Center in the Veterinary Medical Center, Room 0076, and an Active Learning Classroom in the renovated Wenger Computer Lab on the second floor of the Veterinary Medical Administration Building. This has created additional options for flexible teaching and learning spaces.
